How to be ALL in with Jesus
Have you ever wondered what it really means to be all in with Jesus? I know I have. We hear people talk about giving their life to Christ, but sometimes, it's hard to figure out what that actually looks like in our everyday lives. Does it mean we have to be perfect? Does it mean we never mess up? The answer is no—being all in with Jesus doesn’t mean we never fall short, but it does mean living with a heart fully committed to Him, no matter what
What Does It Mean to Be "All In"?
Being all in with Jesus means surrendering everything—our worries, fears, dreams, and even our failures—to Him. It’s about putting Him first in every area of our lives. This can be tough because, as humans, we naturally want to hold onto control. We want to plan everything out and make things happen our way, but Jesus calls us to a different way of living.
In Matthew 16:24, Jesus says, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.” That’s what it looks like to be all in—denying our own desires, taking up the cross, and following Him wherever He leads.
How Do We Live All In with Jesus?
Start with Prayer:
Surrendering your life to Jesus begins in prayer. Spend time talking to God, sharing your heart with Him. Ask Him to help you let go of the things you’re holding onto and to guide you in the right direction. This is a conversation, not just a one-time prayer. Keep going to God with an open heart.Trust His Plan:
It’s easy to say we trust God, but living it out is another story. Trusting God means believing that His plan is better than ours, even when it doesn’t make sense in the moment. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” When things get hard or uncertain, remind yourself that God sees the bigger picture, and He’s working everything out for your good.Let Go of What’s Holding You Back:
We all have things that hold us back from fully committing to Jesus. It might be fear of what others think, our own desires, or the struggles we’re going through. Being all in means letting go of those things and trusting Jesus with them. It’s a daily decision to hand over our control and say, “Lord, You know better than I do.”Be in the Word:
To truly be all in with Jesus, we need to know Him, and the best way to do that is by reading the Bible. God speaks to us through His Word. It shows us how to live, reminds us of His promises, and reveals His character. Spending time in Scripture helps us align our hearts with God’s heart and live according to His will.Live It Out in Love:
Jesus was all about love—love for God and love for others. In Matthew 22:37-39, Jesus says the greatest commandments are to “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind” and to “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Being all in means living a life marked by love. That doesn’t mean we’ll always get it right, but we can make love our goal in everything we do, knowing that Jesus’ love for us never changes.
The Freedom in Going All In
Here’s the most beautiful part about going all in with Jesus—there’s freedom in it. It might seem like giving up control would feel limiting, but it’s actually the opposite. When we let go and let Jesus lead, we experience the true freedom that only comes from walking with Him. We no longer have to carry the weight of the world on our shoulders because we trust that He’s got it. And that freedom brings peace and joy that the world can’t offer.
A Prayer for Surrender:
Lord,
Thank You for calling me to be all in with You. Help me to let go of the things I’m holding onto and to trust You with my whole heart. I want to follow where You lead and surrender my life completely to You. Guide me in Your truth and fill my heart with Your love, so that I may live fully for You. Amen.
Remember: You’re Not Alone
If you’re struggling with going all in with Jesus, know that you’re not alone. So many of us are on the same journey, learning how to trust Him more each day. Keep pressing forward, stay connected to His Word, and surround yourself with others who are walking this path with you. God is faithful, and He will meet you right where you are.
I hope this blog encourages you to take that step of going all in with Jesus. It’s not about being perfect—it’s about being fully surrendered to Him and trusting Him to lead you. Stay blessed and keep growing in your faith!
