First Day of School: Walking in Faith and Confidence

Hey Cross Woven fam, it’s Shyanne here!

The first day of school is here again! I know that for a lot of us, this day can bring a mix of excitement, nerves, and maybe even a little bit of dread. New classes, new people, maybe even a new school altogether—there’s a lot to handle. But this year, as we walk through those school doors, let’s do it with a new mindset. Let’s walk with faith and confidence, knowing that we’re not alone. God’s got our back!

### Starting Fresh

The start of a new school year is kind of like a blank slate. It’s a chance to start fresh, set new goals, and think about the person you want to become. Whether last year was amazing or a struggle, this year is a new opportunity. And as Christians, we can step into this new season knowing that God is with us every step of the way.

Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us: *“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”*

So, whether you’re feeling confident or a little shaky, trust that God is guiding your steps. He’s already gone ahead of you, preparing the way, and He’s walking beside you, ready to help you through whatever comes your way.

### Making Faith a Priority

This school year is filled with so many things—homework, sports, clubs, friends, and all the other activities that fill up our schedules. But no matter how busy things get, let’s commit to making our faith a priority. Even when life feels overwhelming, we can always find time for God. It might be as simple as praying during lunch, reading a short Bible verse before class, or listening to worship music while you study.

One thing I’ve learned is that when I make time for God, He gives me peace and strength that I didn’t even realize I needed. It’s like my whole day feels more focused and meaningful. When we put God first, everything else seems to fall into place.

### Standing Strong in Who You Are

School can sometimes feel like a place where we’re pressured to fit in, change who we are, or hide our faith. But remember this: God has called you to stand out, not blend in! Romans 12:2 tells us, *“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”* You are uniquely created by God with a purpose, and this year is a chance to shine that light.

Don’t be afraid to be who you are—whether that means sticking up for someone who needs help, being kind to the person who sits alone, or just living out your faith in a way that others can see. You don’t have to be perfect; just let God’s love flow through you, and He’ll take care of the rest.

### Goals and Growth

As you’re setting your goals for the year—whether they’re academic, personal, or spiritual—remember that growth isn’t always about getting it all right. It’s about learning, trying new things, and trusting that God is shaping you in the process.

And when things get tough (because, let’s be real, they will), don’t forget that you have a source of strength that never runs out. Philippians 4:13 says, *“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”* No test, no challenge, no difficult moment is bigger than the strength God gives you. Lean into Him, and He’ll help you through whatever comes your way.

### Final Thoughts

So, as we kick off this school year, let’s do it with confidence in who we are and whose we are. God is with us every step of the way, from the first day to the last. Whether it’s your senior year or you’re just starting high school, this year is another chapter in the amazing story God is writing in your life. Step into it with faith, hope, and a determination to let His light shine through you.

We’ve got this, Cross Woven fam—because God’s got us!

Much love,

shyanne
